‘The Antwerp Design Seminars & Lectures’ are an international event which takes place each year at the College of Design Sciences. Its aim is to stimulate cross boundary thinking in design and to familiarize students with an interdisciplinary approach towards design problems.
The theme of ADSL2010 edition is:

Il Concorso di Ideecostruttive vuole richiamare energie mentali, suggestioni dell’anima, competenze specifiche per la realizzazione di opere e progetti che promuovano l’Ecosistema nel suo equilibrio Uomo – Casa – Ambiente. Eco-co-Housing = Ecologica – Integrazione – Abitativa intesa come reale intreccio di equilibri indissolubili che coniugano la sostenibilità ambientale, l’integrazione tra natura e ambiente costruito, il benessere umano a livello fisico – psichico, con la “socialità domestica”: l’uomo è a casa propria nel mondo e il mondo si fa casa negli uomini. Per ogni sezione una declinazione del tema al fine di realizzare opere e progetti.

The Library of Facoltà di Architettura e Società at Politecnico di Milano, from SEP 28 2009 started a new opening hours scheme: 9.00-23.45 (Mon-Frid).
Students are warmly invited to use the library premises to study and to arrange evening events at the school.

The third edition of the international competition dedicated to young people offers the chance to deal with the theme of creativity in various areas of art, fashion and design. The competition has a more idealistic aim of encouraging participants to present innovative ideas and projects, irrespective of their direct application. It is a true dream factory, where young people are encouraged to ‘dare’, by placing more emphasis on the idea and visionary ability than their technical level. The deadline for the submission of work is set for the 30th of October 2009!

Young artists from Kosova, France, Albania and Italy willing to partecipate can send a motivation letter to Pejoti Caritasve or Roberto Sartor before the 28th of July.

After a long period, here I am back to work as architect!
Together with Studiometrico/Lorenzo Bini we have started to work on this very pragmatic project for the transformation of a 2.000 sqm industrial building into offices to be let out next year on the Milanese market.

Di seguito, la lettera che il mio collega e amico Paolo Giardiello scrive ai suoi studenti; poichè i suoi contenuti sono del tutto condivisibili, la pubblichiamo sul nostro blog con l’incipit che Norberg Schulz aveva preso in prestito da Sant’Agostino:

Caro studente di architettura,
non ho la presunzione di invitarti, come ha fatto Gio Ponti ad amare l’architettura con il trasporto e la partecipazione di cui solo lui è stato capace. Non pretendo che tu faccia risuonare in te parole ormai lontane il cui eco, invece, non si è mai spento in me.
