UP-DATING THE POST [090919]

We have to aknowledge Abitare has taken in consideration our critics and has removed completely the post (there is nothing linked any more) we mention in text belowe. Abitare and his Director, Stefano Boeri, have shown a great sense of responsability. We are really thankfull for this.

Workshop itinerante a cura di Cantieri Isola e Precare.it tra le aree dismesse di Sesto San Giovanni per scoprire e progettare altri spazi dismessi con livelli (o, 1, 2) di riuso temporaneo. Saranno coinvolti studenti e docenti dei corsi di architettura, paesaggio del Politecnico di Milano (prof. Gennaro Postiglione_DAP Politecnico; Isabella Inti- Multiplicity.lab) e della NABA (Antonella Bruzzese –A12 ).

Partendo dalla proposta di Multiplicity.Lab /DIAP “I Municipi dell’Abitare”, il progetto – con la collaborazione del CeAS – dà una risposta al problema “dell’accoglienza rom” a Milano, attraverso il recupero della cascina Mulino San Gregorio nel Parco Lambro. Il lavoro prende origine dall’iniziativa della Triennale di Milano, “Una casa per tutti”+”La vita nuda”, che ha indagato il problema del disagio abitativo a Millano.

GEOGRAFIE DELL’ABBANDONO è un workshop di ricerca “non-concentrato”: 10 giorni sparsi lungo il semestre, da ottobre 2009 a marzo 2010, per un totale di ca 60 ore (circa 2 incontri al mese) e dal valore di 4 CfU (riconosciuti agli studenti della Facoltà di Architettura e Società).

The third edition of the international competition dedicated to young people offers the chance to deal with the theme of creativity in various areas of art, fashion and design. The competition has a more idealistic aim of encouraging participants to present innovative ideas and projects, irrespective of their direct application. It is a true dream factory, where young people are encouraged to ‘dare’, by placing more emphasis on the idea and visionary ability than their technical level. The deadline for the submission of work is set for the 30th of October 2009!

[Bruce Nauman, Topological Gardens, IUAV-Tolentini, 2009]

Last February, the friend and Maestro Adriano Cornoldi unaspected died. Professor in Interior Architecture at IUAV-Venice, in 2007 Adriano arranged the International Conference in Interior “Intervenire sull’esistente/Acting up-on the existent”; as the first one, in 2005, the venue was the Aula Magna of IUAV-Architecture at Tolentini (with its main entrance by Carlo Scarpa). As a homage to his teaching and legacy, I attach a small video-shot taken during the Bruce Nauman installation “Topological Gardens” arranged for the 53rd Art Biennale 2009: the Aula Magna of Tolentini is completely empty and filled only by voices repeting week-day names.

Thanks to Plataforma Arquitectura I bumped again into this footage from the movie Le Mépris by Jan-Luc Godard, very well known among architects for the setting of Villa Malaparte.

A beautiful house, a beautiful movie, a beautiful summer…

Finally, after a month we are ready to share some of our pics taken during the study trip to Oslo (27/05-02/06 2009). What as been peculiar in this experience, compared to other similar trips, it was the opportunity to meet the architects authors of the works visited in their own studio and having them tutoring around. Moreover, the authors also introduced themselves through a sort of lecture where presented their work and thought.

During the few, and intense, days we had the chance also the experience the long daylight, the incredible warm sun and the picknic in Wigeland Park, with wine beer barbecue and the beautiful viking girls and boys: unforgettable!

The galleries were arranged by Claudia Brunelli, Rossella Destefani, Margherita Parati starting from student shots: actually it is not always very clear the selection criteria in terms of sequence and of content but so far it all we have. The storeybord is by Gennaro Postiglione.

Case Study House No. 22, Hollywood Hills, 1960

‘Julius Shulman, whose luminous photographs of homes and buildings brought fame to a number of mid-20th century modernist architects and made him a household name in the architectural world, has died. He was 98.’

Roberto Sartor kindly pointed out to us this very interesting initiative that will take place in Peja/Pec, Kosova between the 16th and 30th of August. Young artists from Kosova, France, Albania and Italy willing to partecipate can send a motivation letter to Pejoti Caritasve or Roberto Sartor before the 28th of July.

After a long period, here I am back to work as architect!

Together with Studiometrico/Lorenzo Bini we have started to work on this very pragmatic project for the transformation of a 2.000 sqm industrial building into offices to be let out next year on the Milanese market.

Finally we are able to present all the intermediate work delivered by lab-int’09 students’ (design studio on interior architecture) during the Spring Semester. The dead line for final work presentation is planned for Friday 02 October in connection with a one-week exhibition.
