Norway attacks

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

PHOTO/JONATHAN NACKSTRAND

Few weeks ago, in Italy, we delivered a volume and an exhibition (MACRO-Testaccio in Rome untill 14/08/2011) titled “AREA Norway”, a monographic issue of the architecture magazine all about Oslo and Norway. Nature was the protagonist. Now, the same landscape tells stories of an incredible horrible event: a double attack to Norwegians where almost 100 people died. This was possible only due the peacefull trusting friendly Norwegian mode: never thinking about hevil and stupid actions. A Country where, in a such occasion, the Royal family and the politicians did not refrain to crying in front of the large mass of people gathering in the Oslo Cathedral to take part at the celebration for the victims.

We would like to express all our pain and nearness to Norway and to all Norwegians, with the hope they will never lose their inncence towards life and world.

Scene da un abbandono

Alianello (MT): Sabato 19 e domenica 20 marzo 2011

pic by Raniero Carloni album 2010 Aliano su Picasaweb

Grete Prytz and Planetveien 12

Grete Prytz in her house in Planetveien 12, Oslo (pic by Nina Ruud)

Here is a Planetveien 12 gallery even you miss here the presence of life, for a different sequence look here.

Grete died the 25th of September 2010 at the age of 93: always working with the same energy and lively creativity! I met her the first time in 1994 and I was shocked by her beauty and cleverness: I was with Christian Norberg-Schulz who introduced me to one of the most outstanding woman I have ever met. From that visit, I have always tried to pass by her in the house she was leaving since the 1955: Planetveien 12! The house was designed by her husband Arne Korsmo (a master of  Norwegian second generation of Modern architects) between 1952 and 1955, just before he left for Trondheim, for him and her wife Grete. She spent all her life there, respecting the initial utopia of the house programme: a place for life & work. This has been Planetveien 12 until she left for ever!

Opera al Muro/Call for artist

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

From

Ci aiuteranno a scegliere, oltre a laura federico e davide, claudio musso e fabiola naldi (esperti di arte contemporanea), emilio fantin (artista).

Cedric Price/”Re:CP”

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

National museums and galleries emerged in the context of the consolidation of the nation-state in Europe from the 18th century onwards. At the beginning of the 21st century, the intellectual underpinnings of many of these institutions are being questioned, while at the same time, new forms of interaction with the publics are formed. The purpose is to develop a new role for national museums and libraries that allows them, in an innovative way, to adequately reflect past trends and processes that are not constrained by national borders, engage the interest of new social groups and audiences, while simultaneously acting as agents of social cohesion and stability in Europe.

Save the building!

Monday, February 14th, 2011

© Olof Hultin

County Archive Building (“Landsarkivet”) extension, 1971, by Bernt Nyberg: old building from 1904 by architect Carl Möller.

The archive building by Nyberg is part of a tradition of brick building that was developed and passed on by the internationally known Swedish architect Sigurd Lewerentz, creator of the churches in Björkhagen and Klippan. In Skåne (the southernmost part of Sweden) the heritage of Lewerentz has been taken over by Bernt Nyberg, Klas Anshelm and Bengt Edman.

A project, for transorming the archive into a students’ housing, is going to destroy its unbroken brick wall masonery.

Ignazio Gardella/save the building

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Further on there is also an English version of the Petition.
