BINARIO ZERO Colonizzazione del viadotto ferroviario Lambrate–Bovisa (MI) [by Rossella De Stefani, 2008]
The thesis investigates the Lambrate–Bovisa railway viaduct as a large-scale infrastructural barrier running for more than 8 km through Milan, producing residual and interstitial spaces lacking formal planning. These areas are interpreted as sites of spontaneous activity and informal uses, and the project develops a multiscalar strategy to “colonize” the spaces beneath and around the structure. The proposal envisions an everyday spatial infrastructure - pedestrian and cycling paths, resting devices, lighting and vegetation - capable of reconnecting fragmented urban areas, enabling new forms of public appropriation and contributing to the social and environmental regeneration of the city.
