Urban Scattered

URBAN SCATTERED
Scattered urban housing
[2005]

The theme grows out of the need to point out new needs inside a system such as Milan where the necessity of temporary and ‘fast’ dwellings seems to be a demand without an offer. The city presents a number of small to medium size urban voids where it might be possible to explode a big residential building to strategically reorganize its fragments within the cracks of the dense milanese urban fabric to answer the need of particular dwellings shaping new life styles and new dwelling morphologies such as the kiosk, the tower, the garage, the loft, the caravan, etc. Intrinsic and common necessities of these typologies will be their economy, visibility, capacity to aggregate in clusters thus augmenting their functionality. The research on a new dwelling quality will have to face also the possibility that these projects will improve the historical, cultural and architectonic aspects of the milanese metropolis.
