STUDENTShouse – Student’s housing in Milan

Questo lavoro è un progetto collettivo di laboratorio sviluppato all’interno del corso di progettazione del terzo anno del Politecnico di Milano. Al centro vi è la trasformazione di tre edifici IACPM in via Pomposa 5, reinterpretati come residenze per studenti nel contesto sociale e spaziale del quartiere Mazzini. Ispirato all’idea degli Smithsons dei “Small Pleasures of Life”, il progetto esplora nuove forme dell’abitare condiviso, ripensando le routine quotidiane, gli spazi comuni e il rapporto tra vita privata e collettiva. Il lavoro riflette su come l’architettura degli interni possa rinnovare strutture di edilizia popolare esistenti, creando ambienti che favoriscano comunità, autonomia e un’esperienza dell’abitare più significativa.

This work is a collective studio project developed within the 3rd-year design course at Politecnico di Milano. It focuses on the transformation of three IACPM residential blocks in Via Pomposa 5, reinterpreting them as contemporary student housing within the social and spatial identity of the Mazzini district. Inspired by the Smithsons’ idea of the “Small Pleasures of Life,” the project explores new ways of living together, rethinking everyday routines, shared spaces, and the relationship between private and collective life. The work reflects on how interior architecture can renew existing social housing structures, creating environments that support community, autonomy, and a more meaningful experience of inhabiting the city.
