The 16.04.09 at 12.30, in the AHO Gallery there has been the opening of the exhibition UNPLUGGED ITALY: Italian architecture in Oslo. The exhibition was promoted by The Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo, edited by Gennaro Postiglione/DPA-Politecnico di Milano and designed by Erica Borsa and Alice Labadini.

The opening was in connection with the second meeting of UNPLUGGED ITALY lectures (download the program) and the invited guests were:

2A+P/A (Roma)

Matteo Poli (Politecnico di Milano) was the chairman while Neven Fuchs (AHO) was the discussant.

Thanks to Roland & Lukas teaching at “ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences/School of Architecture”, I was invited to deliver a Lecture on my research on AW bunkers within their course of Urban Design “Latente Landscape”.

che strano destino è quello che mi lega a lei: dal nostro primo incontro al giorno della sua scomparsa.

Il primo, assurdo, in una libreria di Karl Johan a Oslo, nel 1986, quando cercando l’unica pubblicazione che raccoglieva il suo lavoro e il suo pensiero, The thought of Construction, una commessa mi disse che il libro era esaurito ma che se avessi aspettato un attimo lei mi avrebbe portato lì, in quel momento, il suo autore: annuii senza capire veramente. Pochi secondi dopo ebbi il piacere di stringere la mano a lei e sua moglie Ingrid. Così, senza alcuna programmazione, furono messe le basi per una collaborazione ventennale che portò alla redazione di due monografie e di una mostra compilativa che ha girato il mondo per molti anni.

Elaborazione di uno o più progetti individuali di recupero “in-utile” di un esistente (ma non per questo tutto vero: potrebbe essere un paesaggio immaginario): le attività  ammesse sono quelle esclusivamente di fruizione estetico-estatica, di meraviglia, di curiosità , di desiderio, di paura, ecc.; mai di uso, mai di utilità  pratica, ecc. ma senza puntare ad essere monumentali o celebrativi. Piuttosto invece bisogna puntare ad essere partecipativi e coinvolgitivi.

Elaborati finali: SUGGESTIONI (attraverso fotomontaggi, video, ecc., o parole): delivering once a week.

Pubblichiamo alcuni casi studio relativi ad ‘interventi sull’esistente’ come riferimenti utili allo svolgimento del lavoro degli studenti del laboratorio. I diversi progetti, dei quali è possibile scaricare immagini e disegni, sono raggruppati secondo i 5 temi presentati in aula:

1. non intervenire sull’esistente

3. costruire nell’esistente
4. aggiungere all’esistente

SL: the Paradox of Construction

The last 3rd of December, there has been at the Politecnico di Milano – Faculty of Architettura e Società  – a conference and an exhibition (03-21 December 2007) on “Atlantik Wall bunkers: possible re-use” discussing if there is any possibility to transform the enormous amount of bunkers lasting along European West coast, from Pirenée to North Cap. and 6000 Km long, disseminated with more than 12.000 buildings representing the largest neglected and unhimelich heritage of EU.

Architects and scholars were invited to present their ideas and their built and un-built works on bunker transformations (following some of the presentations delivered and some more pictures of the exhibition: shots by MV Trovato and J Menzani).
